The single, 10% with Kali Uchis is one of my favorites because I’ve felt that a lot of Kali’s music has had the same tempo even though I love it. Every time Mick Jenkins and Kaytranada link up, I know a fire track is gonna come out of it and that track was no exception.

That song transitions perfectly into Gray Area with Mick Jenkins singing. His voice sounds great on that track and the hook is really catchy which I liked a lot. I haven’t really been the biggest fan of SiR’s music aside from a feature here and there. I wonder what a song with production from both of them would sound like but 2 The Music is dope. It doesn’t sound like Iman Omari contributed to the production on that song but I don’t actually know. For a long time, I’ve known that he’s a great singer but he’s also a very talented producer. Iman Omari is the first feature on the album on the song 2 The Music. The intro, Do It wasn’t the amazing instrumental opener that TRACK UNO was but I still liked it. The moody vibe makes the songs more interesting.

The songs are upbeat and you can dance to them but they aren’t exactly the most happy sounding songs which I like. I like the mood that this album gives off. The production on this album has that signature bounce that only Kaytranada beats have. I would have liked to have a few more new instrumental songs than the amount that we got but I saw that he eventually plans on doing an instrumental album. Although I don’t enjoy it as much as his last album, this new album is much more cohesive and the tracks flow seamlessly into each other. BUBBA on the other hand, seems like this is what a Kaytranada party would sound like. I feel like 99.9% sounded like Kaytranada showcasing his ability to do anything. He also has had various production credits on recent albums from Freddie Gibbs, GoldLink, Mick Jenkins, VanJess, Kendrick Lamar, Talib Kweli, Phonte and many others. He produced the first half of Bishop Nehru’s 2018 magnum opus, Elevators: Act I & II. He and Buddy put out the Ocean & Montana EP together in 2017. He put out an underrated mix on Soundcloud called 0.001%. Even though he hasn’t put out an album since 2016, Kaytra has still been busy. He also has some very talented friends that he collaborates with on his albums and on others’ as well. He was able to do so many different styles of music and make them his own, whether it’s dance, electronic, hip hop or R&B.

He put out one of the best electronic albums of the decade with his 2016 debut, 99.9%. There are few producers as versatile as Kaytranada, yet he still has his own signature style that you’ll recognize as soon as you hear it.
